What is A+ content and who needs it?

With A+ content (formerly Enhanced Brand Content or EBC), you can breathe life into your Amazon listings: Attractive images, explanatory texts and clear modules replace monotonous product descriptions. This ensures more visibility, an improved conversion rate and fewer queries.

This tutorial is suitable for:

  • Complete beginnerswho have never created A+ content before*.
  • Teams or employeeswho are to be trained or further educated*.
  • Sellers who want to upload optimized content quickly and in a structured manner.

You will be guided step by step through the Seller Central interface, from navigating the menu to the final submission of your A+ content.

How to find the A+ content manager in Seller Central

To be able to create A+ content at all, you must first find the appropriate area in Seller Central. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the three dashes in the top left of the main menu.
  2. Select the menu item Advertising.
  3. Then click on A+ Content manager.

The first time you visit, you will usually not see any content here. Don't let this confuse you. The crucial button is at the top right:
"Create A+ content". This is where you create new content and get started straight away.

To summarize:

  • Open menu
  • Choose advertising
  • Click on A+ Content Manager
  • Click on "Create A+ content" at the top right

You are now ready for the next step.

Basic, Premium or brand history: Which A+ variant suits you?

The next step is to select the A+ content type. Amazon distinguishes between three variants here:

KindDescriptionStatus with most sellers
BasicStandard functions, large selection of modulesAlways available
PremiumExtended functions, videos, more designOften blocked, activation required
Brand historyTells the brand story in image & textFrequently activated

Tip:
Most sellers start with Basic. Premium only becomes visible after activation and offers more scope, for example video module and animated content. If you already have access to Premium, you will often find separate explanatory videos and resources.

Basic is more than enough to get you started and is quick to set up. It offers all the important image and text modules you need to present your products perfectly.

Step-by-step guide: How to create your Basic A+ content

This is where it gets down to business. Simply follow these instructions directly in your browser - it usually only takes a few minutes to create.

Assign a meaningful name

First, you want to give your new A+ content a clear, logical name. This will make it easier to find later and prevent confusion if you maintain multiple layouts. A typical example is:

  • Product name + "a plus" (e.g. "Tanne a plus")
  • Add article number or topic

Example:
If you are creating content for a teapot, it is best to call it "Teapot a plus". This saves time if you later copy images or other assets for other products.

Adding modules - which ones make sense?

In Basic mode, you have a number of options for different module types, such as

  • Standard image title bar with text
  • Picture with text
  • Text module
  • Comparison tables

Practice shows: For brands and products with great images, the "Standard image headline with text" module is particularly recommended. It is flexible, looks high-quality and offers space for your most important keywords.

How to add a module:

  1. Click on Add module.
  2. Select standard image title bar with text.
  3. Confirm the selection.

Tip: Feel free to test other modules to convey the look and feel of your brand. However, one or two image modules are often enough to get you started.

Insert images and texts

Now comes the heart of your A+ page: the pictures.

Upload images:

  • Click on the image field in the module
  • Select a suitable image from your computer
  • The recommended image size is displayed, usually e.g. 970 x 300 pixels (pay attention to the quality)

Then add meaningful keywords, product benefits or a short description in the text field. It is worth keeping the most important terms short - texts that are too long quickly appear boring and are skimmed over.

How many images can I upload?
You can usually upload one image per module. You can add further image modules as you wish (and up to a maximum limit) via "Add module".

Optimal use of special modules & overlays

For more variety and a modern design, you can also use the "Standard image with overlay" module in between. Position 5 in particular is often suitable for a small, narrower image:

  • Select the module "Standard image and overlay with dark/light text".
  • Upload a narrow image (e.g. for a detailed photo).
  • Leave the text field empty if you do not want to show an overlay text.

This small image in particular loosens up the A+ page, for example for a testimonial slogan or a symbol image.

ASIN assignment and final check before sending

After creating the A+ content, you must assign the content to the correct products. To do this, use the ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number).

This is how it works:

  1. Click on the product assignment function in the editor.
  2. Enter the ASIN of your products (use the search field).
  3. Choose from the suggestions and add them.

Note:
Amazon often shows suitable ASINs as suggestions in the content manager. This makes your selection easier. However, you can add further ASINs manually.

Before you submit, be sure to take a look at the integrated preview. Check whether:

  • All images are uploaded correctly
  • Texts appear error-free
  • No module (especially the last two) has been forgotten
  • The correct ASINs assigned are

Checklist before sending:

  • Pictures sit perfectly
  • Text fields contain the appropriate keywords
  • All ASINs selected
  • Design corresponds to the brand
  • Preview looks good

This way you avoid embarrassing mistakes and don't have to make corrections afterwards.

Submit A+ content for approval: What happens now?

The last step is simple but crucial:
Click on "Submit for approval" and confirm the submission.

Now you have to be patient. Experience shows that the test is still carried out by real people:

  • Processing time: between 1 and 2 weeks
  • Meanwhile, the page remains in "Under review" status
  • After approval, the A+ content is automatically displayed on the product listing

The actual creation of the content is quick - you're usually done in 3 to 5 minutes. The waiting time for approval is the only sticking point. So plan a little buffer before big marketing campaigns refer to the new product.

Short timeline:

StepDuration
Create content3-5 minutes
Submission/review1-2 weeks
Content live on Amazonimmediately after release

Remember: the more carefully you proceed, the fewer queries or rejections due to errors!
